Call of the Wildlife 2024

Do you hear the Call of the Wildlife?

The Cape Floral Kingdom is one of the most diverse floral kingdoms in the world with over 9 000 plant species in an area of 90 000 square kilometres. While the botanical diversity of this area is most often celebrated, our faunal survey celebrates the frogs, reptiles, birds and mammals which are vital for the ecological health of this region.

The Conservation Research unit is a team of specialised scientists and ecologists who have been tasked with the conservation  of Grootbos Private Nature Reserve and land associated with the Walker Bay Conservancy. Using camera traps and biological surveys, we are able to document the flora and fauna of this area. We believe that in order for our conservation to be truly impactful we must first understand the animals and plants that we aim to conserve.

With your donation, we can continue to fund projects such as camera trap monitoring, the propagation of indigenous plants for restoring wilderness sites, and the training and education of those who will work to protect our Fynbos.
