Earth Rangers Children’s Conservation Programme
It is the Grootbos Foundation’s ongoing quest to connect children with nature and in particular, the wild and precious biodiversity living in the Cape Floristic Region.
Our Earth Rangers programme aims to promote conservation amongst children to encourage their appreciation and interaction with Mother Nature. Children are given the opportunity to experience nature through the eyes of an expert. Our Conservation team shares their knowledge and passion for the intricacies of nature, exploring relationships between plants, insects and mammals that inhabit the fynbos habitat to build genuine wonder in the natural world. Earth Rangers learn to recognize human impact upon the ocean and the land through everyday actions and to consider behavioural changes that could better conserve our natural surroundings.

The Dyer Island Conservation Trust presents lessons specific to marine conservation. Children from Gansbaai, Elim and Stanford have the opportunity to become Earth Rangers, the next generation of conservation stewards.
The programme includes beach clean-ups, beach hikes, frogging, milkwood forest adventures, tree planting, outdoor hikes, a field trip to the Green Futures Nursery, hands-on lessons about fynbos, nature, bees and insects, Cape Leopard, healthy living and more topics to captivate the imagination of the next generation.
